On Thursday (17 May), Youtube sensations, Ho Ming Han and Ho Ming Yue of The Ming Thing visited Sunway Campus along with the immediate cast of Tonton’s new show “I Remember” to promote their latest venture into the world of cinematography. Jad Hidhir who plays the main character joined them along with producer, Jihan and the Director of photography, Roy Ajong.

At 12.30pm, the special guests arrived at JC2 to start the event. First, the MC from Fly FM gave the audience some background on TONTON being Malaysia’s first TV streaming service and the reason why they had decided to collaborate with a pair of Youtubers (of all people!) to produce their show “I Remember”.

Then the producer told us that the script to this show was one of only ten that he could be proud of ever holding. He praised the Ming brothers for their timing, noting how they never went to art school and instead learned everything from trial and error.

They also explained that the shortage of time and bad weather were some of the challenges they faced. Despite the challenges they faced, they managed to write, shoot and edit the entire show within four weeks.

No matter how tough things got on set, they kept up a positive energy. One person from the crew mentioned, “I’ll tell you, once one person throws a tantrum, everyone on set becomes affected. It’s the last thing you want to happen”. The cast enlightened the audience by giving the advice about how to come up with ideas, how to deal with criticism and how to be confident in front of the camera.

Then the screening of the first episode of “I Remember” took place. The series is only four episodes and the first two episodes will be available on TONTON for free starting next week.

The show is about a man who has perfect memory but not much of a social life. Suddenly, he loses his memory and is forced to deal with the repercussions of not being up to the same standard that he was before in the eyes of his boss and friends.

The event ended with some more Q&A and a photo taking session with the guests. Seeing the two Youtube stars who so many of us grow up watching was surreal, especially when we could even see the knobbly knees of Ho Ming Yue.
