To carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, to battle terrifying monsters that block your paths, to climb mountain after mountain trying to reach the top – only to return home, with medals hanging around your neck and no one to show them to.
On Wednesday, July 22nd, the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) organised a webinar titled “COVID-19: New Norm for Journalists – A Regional Perspective”. Moderated by BERNAMA TV producer Tehmina Kaoosji, the session brought together media practitioners from across the region to address the risks and challenges faced by the communication industry in disseminating facts about COVID-19.

With the cloudy morning that hit on a fine Saturday morning of the 18th of July, the webinar conducted by Sunway’s Actuarial and Financial Excellence (S.A.F.E) has enlightened every participant with a bright introduction of the topic Panic After Pandemic: Consequences and Contingencies. Beginning with the rules and regulation that was fairly simple to be kept as a remainder to ensure a smooth webinar.
How does one represent themselves in this world? What would their potential be? These are the questions that intrigue people when they’re looking for a sense of purpose in their life. This time around, AIESEC Sunway showcased those who found their answer through this facebook webinar, ‘Who Am I To This World?’ that was held on the 27/6 Saturday night. Stories of different individuals on how they inspire others with their visions on different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“The Economics of COVID-19” was an event hosted by Sunway Economics Society with an honorable speaker, Professor Eduard J. Bomhoff. This event provided the fellow participants insights on how COVID-19 has impacted the economy in the South East Asian Region and Western relations. In addition, Professor Eduard himself shared his forecasts about the future of the economy in said areas. For a better insight into the economics of this current pandemic, the event was divided into different sections. These are the key things to take note of based on his slides and followed by his answers from the Q&A session.
Imagine a world where unity is preserved. A driving force for a harmonious land of unending peace, where acceptance of our differences overrules tolerance, and the peoples’ love and understanding for one another lends respect to every human being. Will racism always be a one of the barriers and the reality that we face, leaving a place like this to only exist within the realms of the paracosm that is built in our minds?
As students, being confined to home during this MCO has been one side of the coin when it comes to studying. The other side has been experienced by lecturers who are teaching from home. Students all sort of know how they’ve been coping, but how about the lecturers? What have lecturers been doing during this three month MCO?

With most second-year students worrying about their job and internship opportunities in this pandemic, Sunway Actuarial and Financial Excellence (SAFE) organised a special webinar in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia to give students tips on securing their first jobs in uncertain times like these. The webinar was held on Zoom on Friday (19th of June 2020) and Sunway students could join for free. So of course, Echo had to participate to get some valuable insights from the industry giants themselves.
