Echo Eats: 5 Healthy RM5 Meals in Under 5 Minutes

As students, we seek optimisation. We want good grades and extracurriculars, we want to be in tip-top shape, we want vibrant social lives and hobbies - but never at the expense of our wallets, and god forbid it creeps into our Netflix time. The centrepiece of all that may just be something as simple as making your own food.

Thaipusam in Malaysia

Here in Malaysia, we love our cultural celebrations. Diversity in our numerous cultures is something we celebrate proudly - Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and even Christmas. However, there is one celebration that tends to be overlooked each year, even though the traditions are carried out on as large a scale as any other celebration: Thaipusam.

Five Unconscious Things Malaysians Do Travelling Abroad

Even after a few weeks of being back in school, most of us (all of us, really) have yet to adjust to the sudden change in lifestyle. Suddenly, we’re being controlled by our clocks again and forced to face the horror of assignments, lectures and this strange feeling of having a purpose in life. So I bet we’re all longing for the holidays to return, even if we won’t admit it. The good old days of lounging at home or going out with friends, finding the time to read books or watch movies, or if you’re lucky and have the privilege to do so - travel.

That is because I play the role of chief editor to write-ups as well as a secondary editor to creative articles. My point being, I hold a lot of credits. Writing has always been my passion and editing other people's writing seemed like a natural progression to make once I joined Echo. However, over the six months I've noticed a lot of habits from my writers that grind my gears and a lot more that make my day. So without further ado, how to hand in work that will make your editor (or lecturer or boss) happy.

Ethics in the Sports Industry

Ethics is defined as the set of moral principles that govern a person’s behavior or the running of an activity. Unsportsmanlike conduct, similarly, is a term defined as an offence in sports that violates the sport’s generally accepted rules of sportsmanship and participant conduct. Throughout history, there have been instances when the behaviours of certain sportsmen and athletes have been questioned.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Review

Creatures, magic and mystery galore! This Fantastic Beasts sequel spends its screentime whipping around fast-paced action scenes and chocks itself full of Easter Eggs with such rapid succession that it masks its (sadly flimsy) plot with delightful entertainment. As a devout Harry Potter fan, watching Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald over the weekend left me with a lot of Thoughts™ I’m eager to share.

Gol & Gincu Vol 2 Movie Review

Gol dan Gincu Vol.2, 3 words: progressive, fun, heartwarming. This is a reboot of the original Gol dan Gincu TV series and movie from 2005. Originally an enemies-to-lovers romcom somehow involving futsal as a catalyst to the main characters’ relationship growth, Gol dan Gincu was never much of a hit. However, this reboot, switching up the main theme from love to friendship and including a diverse cast of misfits on the futsal team has breathed new life into this franchise.
I’m Better than You

I’m Better than You

Most of us have had that feeling of being watched as we walked past a big crowd or entered an unfamiliar room for the first time. Depending on our self esteem, we would have felt either superior or inferior to these strangers (unless we were too tired or hungry to care about the thoughts of others). However, it is more common for a majority of us to feel the latter rather than possess the feeling that we are a step above others. But why is this?
