Following the success of its first edition, Soul Space 2.0 (@soulspace.sdc) has returned. On the 1st and 2nd of November 2025, the event held at Sunway Pyramid brought together dance enthusiasts for a meaningful session of creative expression. Organised by the Sunway Dance Club (@sunwaydanceclub) in collaboration with Sunway Student LIFE, the program aims to spread the culture of dance to more people.

Soul Space 2.0 featured three main categories of competition: the 1v1 Hip Hop Battle, 2v2 Open Style Battle, and the K-pop Dance Cover Competition (KDCC). These segments drew participants from various dance backgrounds under one stage.

Compared to its first iteration, Soul Space 2.0 demonstrated noticeable growth and refinement. The committee credited last years’ experience for making the event more manageable this time around. However, the team still faced unforeseen obstacles. The most challenging was a last-minute venue change. Due to this, they had to redo their stage, layout, and overall setup within two months, but they managed to pull through.
The Saturday finals were among the most anticipated parts of the event. Dancers impressed the audience with their difficult techniques, with one team executing a difficult move known as the “Dip/Drop”. The 1v1 Hip Hop Battle categories were judged by Kay (@kayllash_vampiro), while the 2v2 Open Styles Battle judges included Marcus (@marcus_lyh), Funky T (@funky_t_nb) and Lingzy (@lingzyyeeling). The KDCC category were judged by Jaedon (@jaedon_g7) and Iylia (@iyliamanis). For the battle, DJ William (@williamcwl811) , former SDC president, returned to the event which contributed to the energetic atmosphere.

This year also saw improvements in sponsorships and collaboration. There were a total of 9 sponsors including brands such as Zus Coffee, Hiruscar, Banila Co. Special acknowledgements were also given to Emcee Aloysius (@_aloy_ho) for hosting the event, Student LIFE Ms. Hajar & Mr. Clemen for their consistent guidance through the whole process and Rollti, who provided free meals for the crew, committee and judges.
The event concluded with outstanding performances across all categories. In the 1v1 Hip Hop Battle, Xian impressed the judges with sharp musicality and creative freestyle. The 2v2 Open Style Battle Champion went to Kay & Clemen, whose stage presence stood out among other contenders. Meanwhile, Void emerged as champions of KDCC category for their dynamic and synchronised routine. Each winner received recognition for their dedication and artistry reflecting the high level of talent within Sunway’s dance community.

When asked about their motivation to continue the event, organisers expressed hopes of turning Soul Space into an annual event for the club. Beyond competition, the team hopes the event will broaden its perspective on dance within the university community. A committee member stated that they want more people to experience their event to learn about all the different styles of dance, not just K-pop, and they also want to break the stigma that dancers cannot do well in life, as dance is for everyone, no matter who you are.
