Before the CMCO begun again for the third time (i guess), our video production members met up to film a spicy food challenge video. Putting in their blood, sweat and tears making this video happen, from the famous spicy samyang noodles to a spicy ‘nasi lemak’.

The definition of a “better me” may vary between individuals, but whether we make resolutions and goals to lose weight, watch less netflix and be more productive, or start journaling every day, it is one characteristic of life and human nature that connects and motivates us all to make them: change.
When we reflect on our society, the most prominent thoughts that come to mind are ones revolving around social atrocities. The truth is, our contemporary society inherited a world that is still reeling from wars as well as economic, social, and environmental crises. The consequences of these circumstances became a normality in everyday life and seem unnecessary to be acknowledged as they are a part of us just as much as they are a part of the world. They make up our values, how we perceive the world, and determine the dreams that we willingly invest in. When confronted by these inevitable circumstances, there always exists two options: resistance or compliance. And what we choose to do with this damaged world is up to us; to either discard it or continue protecting it in hopes of a societal rebirth.
In China, Jack Ma is synonymous with success. The former english teacher turned internet entrepreneur was the country’s richest person. $61.7Billion. That was Jack Ma’s estimated net worth according to Forbes. He topped Forbes China’s rich list for 2020 and ranked number 17 in the global Billionaires list for 2020. Ma co-founded the behemoth Alibaba group, a multinational technology conglomerate and also China’s largest company, in 1999. It is the closest thing Amazon has to peer and rival. Besides that, Ma created Alipay, a third party mobile and online payment platform in 2003. Growth of Alipay was rapid. In 2005, it attracted the American Internet portal, Yahoo!, which bought a 40% stake. In 2007, Alibaba.com raised $1.7 billion dollars in its initial public offering (IPO) in Hong Kong. Not long later, Ma created Ant group, which serves as a parent group of Alipay and other financial services. In 2020, it was scheduled for an IPO.
Amidst a pandemic, people have been in a state of quarantine for quite some time. If there is anything positive happening during this period, it’s the gaming industry. Everyone has been finding ways to entertain themselves one way or another. Be it watching movies or getting occupied with a new hobby or playing games! Statistics have shown, there has been a 63% increase in video games sales in the gaming industry as people have more time than ever to play games while staying at home. In 2019, The gaming industry has contributed to a total of $151.9 billion over the world. Needless to say, gaming is one of the favourite modern pastimes. Anyone could be a gamer, even the granny you meet at the grocery store.
Humans have been reduced to nothing more than a magazine subscription these days; the only difference is that the more issues the individual accumulates, the more likely they are to end up being cancelled.
No doubt that 2020 has been an emotional rollercoaster for all of us, but now that the year has passed and we’ve been transported into 2021 with strings of “Happy New Year!” wishes, it’s time for us to lick our 2020 wounds and start anew. Let’s actually make it a Happy New Year – the year we take back our sense of control that has been robbed by the pandemic.
SMTOWN Live “Culture Humanity” is a free online concert organised by SMTOWN, held on January 1, 2021 and broadcasted through Facebook, Twitter, V Live, YouTube, TikTok, Beyond Live and KNTV. The concert line-up included K-pop acts from SM Entertainment, namely, Kangta, TVXQ!, Super Junior, Taeyeon, Temin, Baekhyun, Kai, Red Velvet, NCT, WayV, SuperM, Aespa, Raiden, IMLAY and Ginjo. It has also set a record for the highest number of viewers for a Korean online concert with over 35.83 million streams from 186 countries. The entire concert was pre-recorded and filming was conducted safely in compliance with the Covid-19 restrictions.
