Tarot is a mirror that reflects the soul. The cards represent our spiritual connection to the Universe, both tangible and intangible. With a deck of cards with pictures on them, one can grasp the past and understand how events have led up to the present. And as the cards are shuffled, these visuals change and take on a life of their own. With every shuffle, we’re infused with magic. And so it goes for March 2022.
In 2022, discrimination remains an alarming issue. Be it racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia, or countless other biases, marginalised communities exist all around us. That said, this month at Sunway Echo Media, the theme is revenge — so let’s flip the script on modern oppression and talk about how some minorities have reclaimed their right to freedom, and shoutout some of the people that made it possible.
In commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 8, Sunway Echo Media is proud to be celebrating women whose faces appear on currency worldwide. From poets to presidents, these women’s invaluable contributions to their countries have earned them a spot on banknotes and coins.
We’ve had the star-crossed lovers of District 12; Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games. We’ve had the tragic love story of two cancer-stricken teens; Augustus and Hazel from The Fault in Our Stars. We’ve even had the tension-filled confused romance of Hermione and Ron from The Harry Potter series.
But all of these stories revolve around straight romances causing many queer readers to feel underrepresented in their favourite books (I, Asareel, would have given my right arm and a cheese toastie to read Harry and Draco snogging in the loo – Drarry was real and no one can tell me otherwise).

While restrictions were placed to limit the number of guests gathering for Chinese New Year celebrations last year, everyone is beyond excited to look forward to a blast with vaccination opportunities. Marking February 1st this year, the year of the Tiger begins following the second new moon after the Winter Solstice. What most don’t know is that according to the Chinese Zodiac, 2022 marks the year of the Water Tiger that cycles every 60 years only. The year of the Tiger will be all about making massive changes. It will be a year of adventure and risk-taking to rediscover enthusiasm. Everyone is revved up, charity is at an all-time high, and social progress appears to be attainable once more.

If there’s one thing I took away from watching Ridley Scott’s ‘House of Gucci’, it would be that Patrizia Reggiani (or Patrizia Gucci, which she prefers to be referred to as) is as ruthless as she is stylish. Based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 book titled ‘The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed’, ‘House of Gucci’ offers a peek inside the scandalous Gucci household in the 80s and 90s. This biopic focuses on the tumultuous married life of Maurizio Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani which ultimately culminates in murder.
