A Cuppa Coffee with Dr Elizabeth Lee

At 4.00pm on Thursday 25th of October crowds of people began to fill the infamous Lunch Box, a cafe restaurant situated on the first floor of the Sunway University building. This was the event space of ‘A Cuppa Coffee w/ Dr. Elizabeth Lee’, a casual talk with the senior and executive director of Sunway Education Group where students and adults alike were able to share their thoughts and insights of Sunway’s future.

unchLain was a charitable stand up comedy event which was held on the 19th of October 2018 at JC2) of Sunway University from 7.30pm to 10.00pm. The event consisted of five budding stand up comedians in Malaysia, a music performance by a member of the Department of Communication and Liberal Arts (DCLA) alumni, and an interactive game involving the audience.

Togetherlah! Lokal Night

Togetherlah!’s Lokal Night was a colourful display of Malaysian art and talent organised by Sunway University’s Department of Communication and Liberal Arts (DCLA). Organising this event was not only merely a fun experience but also, a requirement for their degree coursework to prepare them to enter the field of public relations and media planning.

I’m Only Human – Mental Health Policy Forum

After a series of pep talks and fitness classes, the first day of the I’m Only Human campaign ended with a forum on mental health awareness and the suicide prevention policy in Malaysia. In this forum, YB Michelle Ng seeked to find answers on “What should be changed in status quo by the authorities?” from the panel of experts. At the same time, the audience including many members of the public and caregivers tried to gain more understanding on mental illness and how to prevent suicide.

I’m Only Human – Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Campaign

Throughout the “I’m Only Human” Mental Health Awareness & Suicide Prevention event, Sunway Peer Counselling Volunteers (PCV) in conjunction with Sunway Education Counselling and Wellness, Student Life, Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita dan Masyarakat as well as Pejabat Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Selangor Subang Jaya organized many activities themed around mental health awareness, including a monologue exhibition. This exhibition was done to educate participants on the issues faced by people suffering through depression through an individual’s perspective.

GET HIRED Career Fair

On the 12th and 13th of September 2018, Sunway Career Peer Advisors organised ‘GET HIRED Career Fair’ which took place from 10am to 4pm at Jeffrey Cheah Hall, Sunway College. The objective of this event was to assist the students and graduates, especially those who were looking for internships or jobs, in exploring their career paths and searching for job opportunities.

Clubs and Societies Week

Clubs and Societies (CnS) Week was back one last time this year from the 4th to the 6th of September for clubs to recruit new members, especially those from recent intakes. As CnS Week began, new and existing students who expressed interest in participating in clubs had a chance to browse the array of clubs and get to know their options.

101 Messages of Hope and Social Change: Sunway University Choir’s 6th Annual Recital

On the 7th of September 2018, Sunway University Choir showcased their 6th annual recital. This year’s theme was ‘Messages’, which featured songs that discuss pressing social issues around the globe. ‘Messages’ was enjoyable as it was educational; the audience not only had the chance to learn about world issues, culture and history, but were also exposed to songs ranging from popular to obscure, from modern to traditional.
