A Small Insight Into Human Rights

A Small Insight Into Human Rights

“The rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened.” -  John F. Kennedy When was the last time you had to fight for something you were entitled to? It could be every single day of your life - for the last cookie in the batch, for the amount of allowance you get each week. It is almost ingrained into human nature for us to speak up about an issue if we see that things aren’t going our way and if deemed reasonable and negotiations made, those issues could be resolved. However, if I were to rephrase my question slightly, everything might be different: when was the last time you had to fight for a right that you were entitled to as a human being? For many of us, the answer would probably be never. Tokyo Ghoul (Season 1): Anime Review

Tokyo Ghoul (Season 1): Anime Review

If you have no idea what this anime is about, we have 2 questions for you: 1. Are you serious? and 2. No, really, are you SERIOUS?! This anime has been a tremendous success ever since its debut release in 2014 and even before that, the manga in which the anime takes its main storyline from has sold over 34 million copies worldwide, easily making it one of the most popular anime ever since Attack on Titan. Truth be told though; this anime is not everyone’s cup of tea. It touches on some heavy topics like identity crisis, and is pretty violent; because you know, ghouls eat humans? So, if you can’t stand blood, gore, psychological horror I advise you don’t watch this. However, to those who love any form of horror and are not squeamish, you’re in for a treat! This review will be a non-spoiler review as we wouldn’t want you to miss out on all the shocking and OMG moments that adds to the story’s intrigue.
How to Focus in a Blurry World

How to Focus in a Blurry World

In an era where distractions are as common as the next traffic stop, it is of no surprise that society and hence ourselves, are losing our grip on the issues that matter most. If an armed conflict happens somewhere in the Middle East, the authorities will react immediately. However, if there is a hungry child on the streets of Niger begging for food – he can wait. Simply put, we have an innate bias for one thing over another, even if it is harder and the outcome is less desirable.
Deadpool 2 Review

Deadpool 2 Review

Hello there dear reader! Hopefully you read the title of this before clicking on it, but in case you didn’t, this will be a movie review for the R-rated ‘film’, Deadpool 2. I can, however, embrace the barrier-breaking tone and write this as if I were talking to you, straight on, maintaining a self-aware edge to get inside your head. In other words, yo fourth wall! I’m milking the tar out of you today!

What Growing a Tomato Plant Taught Me About Life

What Growing a Tomato Plant Taught Me About Life

Earlier this January, the fact that I was going to turn 20 this year hit me like a ton of bricks. In my eyes, I was a child trying on adult-sized pants, and I was vastly unprepared to face the real world. So like any teenager facing a quarter-life crisis, I rushed to do anything that promised to help me make sense of life. As chance would have it, I was scrolling through Facebook one midnight when I came across Free Tree Society’s announcement that they would be giving away, well--free trees!
