Depp v Heard: When the Lines Between Reality and Fiction Blur
The Depp v Heard “Show”
It was practically impossible not to get sucked into the rabbit hole of what seemed to be the greatest show of all time. It had everything a viewer could ever want-unique characters, dramatic dialogue, and shocking plot twists. With its sombre courthouse setting and flurry of suits, it might have seemed like just another addition to the saturated genre viewers know as legal dramas. So, how could this show possibly compete with greats like ‘Law and Order’, ‘The Good Wife’, and ‘Suits’? The answer lies in the fact that this show wasn’t a fictional tale concocted by a team of screenwriters. There was no director behind the scenes yelling ‘action’ and ‘cut’. There were no producers pulling the strings. And, the two Hollywood stars in the vanguard of the show weren’t playing a part. Nevertheless, it did incorporate all the allure of a traditional legal drama with real-world and real-time stakes. How could anyone possibly have taken their eyes off the screen?

Anime Mania
Anime has made an impressive impact across the world in the past years. The anime craze has reached millions of people, increasing the number of anime fans. If there is one question though, that bugs the life out of an anime fan, it would be, “Isn’t anime the same as cartoons?”. Well, folks, anime is not the same as cartoons. While cartoons are for viewers of all ages, anime can be violent, gory and even sexual, proving to be more suitable for adult viewing. Unlike cartoons, anime provides viewers with a wide range of genres: romance, action, horror and even comedy. In Japanese, the word anime is originally an abbreviation of the word animation. It uses signature aspects of Japanese-style animation, like vibrant colours, dramatic panning and characteristic facial expressions.
In Books: The Rainbow Era of LGBTQ+ Love
We’ve had the star-crossed lovers of District 12; Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games. We’ve had the tragic love story of two cancer-stricken teens; Augustus and Hazel from The Fault in Our Stars. We’ve even had the tension-filled confused romance of Hermione and Ron from The Harry Potter series.
But all of these stories revolve around straight romances causing many queer readers to feel underrepresented in their favourite books (I, Asareel, would have given my right arm and a cheese toastie to read Harry and Draco snogging in the loo – Drarry was real and no one can tell me otherwise).
Echo Eats: Singapore Mamak Upgrades Roti Canai with Truffle, Raclette Cheese and More
Fluffy, flaky fried dough served with dal curry on the side, paired with a satisfying cup of frothy teh tarik (pulled tea) or coffee. What a treat. To many, roti canai is a comfort food, whether it’s eaten for breakfast or in the middle of the night.
