Students from every nation, tribe and tongue gathered together in the Jeffrey Cheah Main Hall on the 13th of September 2019, to celebrate and bask in the beauty of the cultural diversity among Sunway Students. The Deputy High Commissioner for the Kingdom of Eswatini to Malaysia, the First Secretary from the Embassy of Japan, Mr Tatsuya Tamagawa and the members of staff were all present at this beautiful event. The event was commemorated by a flag walk in which different countries were represented. Of course, all protocol must always be observed therefore Ms Sim, a representative from the International Office gave a welcoming speech. Following that, the performances commenced!

Patefacio
On Thursday the 12th of September, a forum regarding the significance of social media in entrepreneurship and personal branding took place in GC Hall 3. The forum was organised by TedXSunwayUniversity with the intriguing Latin title ‘Patefacio’ which means ‘to disclose’ or ‘bring to light’. The panellists included a variety of characters with very different backgrounds and experiences, but all who are entrepreneurs capitalizing on social media presence in their own way.
Return to Light: Youth Mental Health Forum
The Youth Mental Health Forum: Enhancing, Empowering and Strengthening Mental Health Services was held on the 11th of September in JC1, Sunway University. The forum was a part of the Return to Light: Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Campaign event that was held for 2 consecutive days on the 11th and 12th of September.
Synergy- Sunway Dance Club’s Annual Dance Production
Throughout the evolution of the Malaysian dance scene, Sunway Dance Club (SDC) has managed to build a dance community in Sunway University and College by organizing dance battles, dance events and annual dance productions to unite students of different backgrounds through dance. From their first ever dance production “Genesis” in 2013, to “Heat The Stage” in 2017, Sunway Dance Club has finally made a comeback with their most remarkable annual dance production (ADP) yet on the 6th of September 2019 – “Synergy”.
Beyond Tomorrow
“Industrial Revolution 4.0” (IR 4.0), such a trending word often intrigues young minds. IR 4.0 and sustainability are often intertwined as they are the keys to the sustainable development of an organization and also a nation. It’s also hoped that IR 4.0 underpins the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Friendship Week
To be loved is a beautiful thing, but to give love – that’s an even more glorious act! This is why many people were drawn to the Sunway Friendship Week that was held from the 27th to the 30th of August 2019. The week was made to ‘foster and celebrate all friendships, especially between the international and local students of Sunway University. The event was kicked off with Dr. Elizabeth Lee’s opening speech in front of the university foyer where she spoke on friendship. Her inspiring speech was then followed up by many marvellous performances by the students of Sunway. The performances included a pop dance, seasonal drums and the arrival of our school’s beloved Sun bears as well as the mascots of Sunway Lagoon.

SAFE had the privilege to invite prestigious speakers and host an interesting actuarial conference which comprised of plenary talks and panel sessions, as well as a case study competition.
Sun-U Choir Recital 2019: Classical Revolution
On Saturday the 17th of August, Sunway University Choir hosted their 8th annual concert with the theme ‘Classical Revolution’. The concert was held, as per usual, in the Jeffrey Cheah Hall, in Sunway College. The doors opened at 7pm with friends and family of the performers streaming in, filling seats throughout the hall.
A Night Of Musical 2.0: Stargazing By the Bow
On the 4th of August, Sunway University Buddhist Society held a musical entitled Stargazing By the Bow. The musical revolves around the teachings of Buddha, more specifically the mantra: 面对它,接受它,处理它,放下它, which translates to face it, accept it, deal with it and let go of it. In times of adversity, there is the propensity for many of us to run away from our problems instead of facing it,hence this mantra encourages us to face up to our problems in order to find true liberation as well as a peace of mind.
