On Sunday 7th October 2018, Sunway Education Group along with the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation held the event ‘Join Hands and Make the Pledge’ in honor of the 3rd anniversary since the launch of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on September 25th 2015. United National Sustainable Development Goals is a plan to overcome global challenges and achieve certain targets in all countries, including protecting the environment, elimination of poverty inequality, sustainable economic growth and enhanced peace.

Many Malaysians by now would have been accustomed to the festival called the “Hungry Ghost Festival”. Well how much do we know about it or how little is still a question yet to be answered. As creepy and fun as it may sound, I still blame my Chinese friends for giving me the chills I have until this day when the month of this festival arrives.
After a series of pep talks and fitness classes, the first day of the I’m Only Human campaign ended with a forum on mental health awareness and the suicide prevention policy in Malaysia. In this forum, YB Michelle Ng seeked to find answers on “What should be changed in status quo by the authorities?” from the panel of experts. At the same time, the audience including many members of the public and caregivers tried to gain more understanding on mental illness and how to prevent suicide.
Throughout the “I’m Only Human” Mental Health Awareness & Suicide Prevention event, Sunway Peer Counselling Volunteers (PCV) in conjunction with Sunway Education Counselling and Wellness, Student Life, Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita dan Masyarakat as well as Pejabat Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Selangor Subang Jaya organized many activities themed around mental health awareness, including a monologue exhibition. This exhibition was done to educate participants on the issues faced by people suffering through depression through an individual’s perspective.
