Throughout the evolution of the Malaysian dance scene, Sunway Dance Club (SDC) has managed to build a dance community in Sunway University and College by organizing dance battles, dance events and annual dance productions to unite students of different backgrounds through dance. From their first ever dance production “Genesis” in 2013, to “Heat The Stage” in 2017, Sunway Dance Club has finally made a comeback with their most remarkable annual dance production (ADP) yet on the 6th of September 2019 - “Synergy”.
We’d hate to be stereotypical gadget-addicted youths, but the purpose of technology is to make our lives easier - and as students, we’re all ‘bout that life. Take the library’s facial recognition system for instance: gone are the days of awkwardly fishing through our bag pockets while someone standing behind us grumbles under their breath. We appreciate that Sunway is attending to our needs. With that, we’ve put together a Christmas list compilation of tools that would save us time and energy, so that we can devote them to endeavors that truly matter - such as lining up for 5 hours to get free Sunway Lagoon passes.
“WELCOME TO THE LOSERS CLUB ***HOLE!” is among the tamer lines thrown out expertly by a gangly preteen in IT (2017) switching the entire theatre from bone chilling fear at the imminent death of beloved characters to hysterical giggles at the sheer pluck of these kids. So. you can imagine IT Chapter Two had a lot to live up to. That being said, IT Chapter Two, written by Gary Dauberman (notably the screenwriter for IT and Annabelle Comes Home) and directed once again by Andy Muschietti (who shall be directing the live-action adaptation of Attack on Titan!?) was fun, but bloated.

To be loved is a beautiful thing, but to give love – that’s an even more glorious act! This is why many people were drawn to the Sunway Friendship Week that was held from the 27th to the 30th of August 2019. The week was made to ‘foster and celebrate all friendships, especially between the international and local students of Sunway University. The event was kicked off with Dr. Elizabeth Lee’s opening speech in front of the university foyer where she spoke on friendship. Her inspiring speech was then followed up by many marvellous performances by the students of Sunway. The performances included a pop dance, seasonal drums and the arrival of our school’s beloved Sun bears as well as the mascots of Sunway Lagoon.
SAFE had the privilege to invite prestigious speakers and host an interesting actuarial conference which comprised of plenary talks and panel sessions, as well as a case study competition.
On Saturday the 17th of August, Sunway University Choir hosted their 8th annual concert with the theme ‘Classical Revolution’. The concert was held, as per usual, in the Jeffrey Cheah Hall, in Sunway College. The doors opened at 7pm with friends and family of the performers streaming in, filling seats throughout the hall.
