How Did It All Begin?
Echo Film Fest, an initiative spearheaded by Sunway Echo Media, a creative student leadership body at Sunway University, emerged from a visionary concept to kindle a fervour for the cinematic arts within Malaysia. Rooted in a desire to infuse short films with meaningful narratives and foster awareness, our festival adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its central theme. This innovative approach encouraged participants to not only showcase their prowess in cinematography but also to craft stories that resonate with authenticity and emotional depth.
From its inception in 2023, Echo Film Fest set out to transcend the boundaries of traditional filmmaking by combining artistic expression with societal impact. By weaving the SDGs into the fabric of our competition, we provided filmmakers with a platform to explore pressing global issues and provoke thought-provoking conversations through the lens of cinema.
