EFFTS, also known as Echo Film Fest: The Sequel, represents a dynamic fusion of creativity and community engagement. Hosted by Sunway Echo Media, this event serves as a celebration of burgeoning talent in the field of filmmaking. EFFTS is poised to captivate audiences with an array of captivating short films. The event spans a three-month period, kicking off in March and culminating in May 2024. During this time, aspiring student filmmakers from various universities across the Klang Valley are invited to unleash their creativity and passion for storytelling. With the theme centered around the evocative prompt ‘Wish,’ participants are tasked with crafting short films that not only entertain but also inspire reflection on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
EFFTS aims to foster a vibrant ecosystem of creativity within the student community, providing a platform for emerging filmmakers to showcase their talents on a broader stage. By spotlighting the intersection of art and advocacy, the event seeks to raise awareness about pressing global issues while celebrating the power of storytelling to effect positive change.

Hollywood Walk of Wishes, a bustling marketplace at Sunway College’s Boulevard sets the stage for EFFTS with a diverse array of offerings. From culinary delights to artisanal wares, the bazaar creates a vibrant atmosphere for attendees to explore and connect. More than a marketplace, Echo Bazaar fosters community interaction and cultural exchange, bringing together students, artisans, and entrepreneurs for a memorable experience.

Opening Ceremony
The event kicks off with an opening ceremony, featuring welcoming remarks and introductions from the organizers.

1st Short Film Screening and Q&A Session
The first short film is screened, followed by a brief Q&A session with the filmmakers and audience members.
7:30 P.M. – 7:50 P.M.
2nd Short Film Screening and Q&A Session
The second short film is screened, followed by another interactive Q&A session.
7:50 P.M. – 8:10 P.M.
3rd Short Film Screening and Q&A Session
The third short film is screened, followed by a Q&A session where attendees can engage with the filmmakers.
8:10 P.M. – 8:20 P.M.
Ice Breaking Session and Advertisement Break
A brief interlude for attendees to mingle and network, accompanied by advertisements from event sponsors.

4th Short Film Screening and Q&A Session
The fourth short film is screened, followed by another interactive Q&A session.

5th Short Film Screening and Q&A Session
The fifth and final short film is screened, with an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.

Judges’ Deliberation and Advertisement Break
While the judges deliberate, attendees enjoy another short break with sponsor advertisements.

Prize-Giving Ceremony
Winners of the short film competition are announced, and prizes are presented to the top performers.

Closing Ceremony
The event concludes with closing remarks and thank-yous from the organizers.

How do I submit my short film?
Upon the submission of their registration form, a confirmation email that contains the link to a submission form will be sent to the participant(s). Participant(s) must complete the submission form with the relevant details and insert the Google Drive link to their short film before the stipulated deadline.
What is the theme of the film competition?
The theme is “Wish.” However, the short film must consist of an element or theme based on at least one (1) of the seventeen (17) “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals”.
What format should the film be submitted in?
The short film submitted should have an aspect ratio of 16:9, a minimum resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080), and a file format of .mp4 or .mov.
How long should my film be?
The duration of the short film must be between five (5) to eight (8) minutes, including the title card and credits.
Are there any age restrictions for participants in the competition?
There are no age restrictions for the competition and you can participate as long as you are currently enrolled in a higher education institution in the Klang Valley.
