Top 5 Unforgettable Insta-Worthy Places

In today’s day and age, nothing really happens unless you post about it on social media. The feeling when likes and comments start flooding in after you’ve posted a picture you’ve spent ages editing and even longer contemplating to post, is an addictive sensation. It’s impossible to deny you’ve not been a victim to this vicious cycle. The habit of paying an outrageous amount of money to get into aesthetic places and posing for hours just for the sake of capturing a single perfect shot is an embedded culture in our current society. A few amongst us who are lucky enough, have actually successfully made stable and profitable careers out of these habits.

Why I Don’t Support the K-Wave Trend

K-dramas. K-pop. K-beauty. K-fashion. These are the things that brought upon the trend of the K-Wave. From what Google tells me, the Korean Wave (a.k.a. Hallyu) came into the public eye during 1999 when the drama “Autumn in my heart” first premiered. Now, it’s just trending as ever, and it refuses to die down. K-pop has been dominating our local radio channels, and groups like BTS and BLACKPINK have made their way onto international waters. Korean makeup and fashion also surfed the waves too, as many people try to recreate the looks of their favourite idol or their favourite K-drama character.

Echo Eats: MyNews vs. Family Mart

The introduction of Family Mart to Malaysia on the 11th of November 2016 shook up the very foundations of our country. Never before had such a convenience store existed in Malaysia (*cough* broken slurpee machines *cough*). Warm bowls of oden, towering cones of matcha soft serve, prepackaged fresh cakes and pastries, unique brands of fruit tea, and calm seating spaces to boot! Say what you like about Japan, they sure know their stuff when it comes to convenience stores.

5 Novels Born During NaNoWriMo

The term “NaNoWriMo” might confuse you if you’re not too deep into the writing scene. For starters, this abbreviation stands for National Novel Writing Month, which takes place annually in the month of November. Participants are required to write a manuscript of 50,000 words from the 1st of November up until the 30th. Since its launch on the 1st of July a decade ago, NaNoWriMo has fostered a thriving community of active writers. NaNoWriMo has also established itself as a non-profit organisation with many esteemed donors such as Wattpad and Scribd (yes, the money you use to buy their adorable merchandise goes to charity!).

The Sunvoice 4

The stars were shining bright on the 14th of October 2019, as the Sunway University Chinese Cultural Society, in conjunction with the Chinese Cultural Societies from other Universities hosted their fourth Sun Voice competition! Everyone stood in applause as a sign of honour to welcome the honourable guests at the event. A welcoming speech was given by Dr. Khor Shunzhi and two others by YB Tuan and Yang Bahagia Puan Sri Datin Seri where they all reminded us that this event was to give people a better understanding of Chinese culture and encouraged the Chinese people in the room to be proud of their heritage.
